LCD is the short form of liquid crystal display, a technology which defines the number of columns and rows of pixels that create a display. It is a fixed-pixel-array.

A LCD car TV is an electrical device that provides entertainment within the car and makes traveling much enjoyable. They include:

- Car LCD TV monitor. This is available in different sizes and are mostly TFT LCD TV monitors. They are audio and visual, providing complete sound and picture entertainment. - Carputers with LCD monitors. These are in-car computers which are used for general computing. They also offer Internet connectivity and one does not need to leave the car to look for Internet service. In-car carputers can also be used to play DVD’s and LCD’s.

LCD car TV monitors are small and very light. Most are slim 7″ or 8.5″ monitors that take up very little space. They can be fixed at the front in the car’s dashboard or at the backs of seats from where those at the back seats can have a view.

In modern passenger transport vehicles, every passenger seat has an LCD TV monitor fixed at the back, each passenger with his or her own, which can be turned off when not needed. These LCD car monitors come with infrared headphones which one can use on his/her own without causing inconvenience to the next passenger.

LCD TV for cars provide complete car entertainment. All these come cheaply as technology continues to make entertainment a cheap affair. A car is now not just a traveling means but a combination of traveling, entertainment and business center (using carputers).

- Yueqing Yiqi Electric Co. LTD. This is a Chinese electric company that manufacturers 7″ high resolution TFT LCD’s with TV. Most of these are compatible with SVCD, JPEG, VCD, DVD and MP4. These are mostly headrest DVD players.

- Qingyuan Gadmei Electronics Co. LTD. This is another Chinese company that manufacturers high quality DVB car TV’s. These are mostly with 7″ LCD panels with 480 by 234 high resolution.

- Kindyelec Co. LTD. The company mainly manufacturers portable DVD’s with 9″ TFT LCD monitors. These are DVB-T recorders with USB and game console capable.

- Zhengtong Huanyu Technic Beijing Co. LTD. This company manufactures Flip down car DVD player with 8.5″ LCD monitors. They also incorporate built-in TV tuner. They are compatible with CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, VCD, CD and MP3.
